Videos posted on <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/seanrguy\/status\/1764489252874633346\">social media posts show<\/a> audience members booing the comedian, who\u2019s known for his characters in Adam Sandler movies, as well as appearances in \u201cReno 911!\u201d and various Comedy Central projects.<\/p>\n<p>The abrupt ending followed awkward pauses, semi-coherent statements and bickering with audience members.<\/p>\n<p>In a Monday morning statement, Swardson, 47, blamed alcohol use and cannabis edibles for his behavior.\u00a0\u201cJust casually woke up on TMZ,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NickSwardson\/status\/1764779916220846433\">he wrote on X<\/a>. \u201cTravel tip: don\u2019t drink and take edibles in high altitude. (Expletive) brain diarrhea. I\u2019ll make it up to you Beaver Creek!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Witnesses said that while some attendees \u201cwere uncomfortable with Swardson\u2019s behavior, others cheered him on,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tmz.com\/watch\/2024-03-04-030424-nick-swardson-1787052-045\/\">TMZ reported<\/a>. \u201cIn one clip that has since surfaced online, a woman in the audience can be heard heckling him, asking: \u2018What\u2019d you smoke before the show?\u2019 \u201d<\/p>\n<p>The venue\u2019s director of operations, according to videos, told the theater: \u201cWe\u2019ve decided to conclude the show early in the best interest of those who bought tickets. We apologize for what you\u2019ve seen tonight. Please email the box office. We\u2019ll be responding to inquiries and processing credits and refunds.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe apologize for the negative experience you may have had at this evening\u2019s performance with Nick Swardson,\u201d promoters then wrote in an email to ticketholders. \u201cUnfortunately, this show did not meet the Vilar Performing Arts Center\u2019s standards as a world-class presenter of the performing arts.\u201d<\/p>\n<aside class=\"related right\"> <\/aside>\n<p>\u201cTherefore, all tickets will be refunded to the original payment method. Please accept our sincere apologies, and be in touch if there is anything we can do to further assist you.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Despite the kerfuffle, Swardson is set to headline Aspen\u2019s Belly Up tonight. As of Tuesday morning <a href=\"https:\/\/tickets.bellyupaspen.com\/index.html\">$28-$65 tickets were still on sale<\/a> for the 6 p.m., 18-and-up performance. Representatives of the venue did not immediately respond to requests to confirm the show.<\/p>\n<p>Swardson is also scheduled <a href=\"https:\/\/comedyworks.com\/comedians\/nick-swardson\">to perform seven shows<\/a> at Comedy Works South in Greenwood Village, followed by Comedy Works downtown, Thursday, March 7 through Sunday, March 10.
