The business expects to begin offering psilocybin-assisted therapy to adults by late April, said co-founder and CEO Elizabeth Cooke.<\/p>\n<p>Cooke opened The Center Origin in Denver in 2023 with a roster of practitioners specializing in yoga, massage, breathwork and reiki. Her goal was to build a community and brand recognition in anticipation of psychedelic therapy becoming legally available.<\/p>\n<p>The Center Origin will soon shift to make psychedelic-assisted therapy its primary offering, complete with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.denverpost.com\/2023\/09\/03\/psilocybin-mushroom-psychedelic-therapy-colorado-oregon\/\">preparation, administration, and integration sessions<\/a>. It will also offer \u201cmicrodosing support\u201d and a range of psychedelic-focused community events, like weekly integration circles, a book club, and mycology classes, per a statement.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"related right\"> <\/aside>\n<p>Additionally, clients will have access to providers of gentle yoga, Thai massage, sound baths, breathwork, meditation and aromatherapy, before or after their guided trip, to enhance the therapeutic experience, Cooke said.<\/p>\n<p>In controlled studies, large doses of psilocybin \u2013 the psychoactive compound in \u201cmagic mushrooms\u201d \u2013 have shown promise in treating mental heath conditions such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hopkinsmedicine.org\/news\/newsroom\/news-releases\/psychedelic-treatment-with-psilocybin-relieves-major-depression-study-shows\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">severe depression<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2022\/08\/25\/health\/psilocybin-mushrooms-alcohol-addiction.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">addiction<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2012\/04\/22\/magazine\/how-psychedelic-drugs-can-help-patients-face-death.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">end-of-life anxiety<\/a>. Beyond research settings, Americans have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.denverpost.com\/2023\/08\/31\/psychedelic-therapy-psilocybin-ptsd-cancer-cluster-headaches-colorado\/\">sought out psychedelic-assisted therapy underground<\/a> for help managing mental health ailments and for spiritual development.<\/p>\n<p>In 2022, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.denverpost.com\/2022\/12\/04\/legal-psilocybin-therapy-oregon-colorado-regulations\/\">Colorado became the second state<\/a>, behind Oregon, to legalize the service and make it more accessible. The first licenses for this nascent industry were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.denverpost.com\/2025\/02\/21\/first-psilocybin-business-licenses-natural-medicine-division\/\">issued to prospective business owners<\/a> earlier this year.
