killer.\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2014\/02\/26\/health\/zohydro-approval\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">CNN described this as \u201cfrightening\u201d<\/a> and Dr. Andrew Kolodny, president of the advocacy group <a href=\"http:\/\/www.supportprop.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Physicians for Responsible Opioid Prescribing<\/a> said \u201cIt\u2019s a whopping dose of hydrocodone packed in an easy-to-crush capsule&#8230;It will kill people as soon as it\u2019s released.\u201d\u00a0 The FDA, of course, responds by saying the medical benefits outweigh the risks.\u00a0 Of course marijuana\u2019s virtually zero mortality rate could make a better argument for the \u201cbenefit outweighing the risk\u201d argument. \u00a0Zohydro is said to be fives times more powerful than Vicodin.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Does not approve more funding for marijuana\u2019s potential to treat Alzheimer\u2019s. <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em> <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Alzheimer\u2019s impacts the lives of approximately 5.1 million Americans.\u00a0 Since the symptoms can come on gradually, the disease can remain undetected for sometime. \u00a0This makes calculating definitive numbers difficult.\u00a0 This condition cuts the quality of life short for many who physically are fine, but mentally suffer from dementia.\u00a0\u00a0Gary Wenk, a longtime Alzheimer\u2019s researcher has noticed a trend, especially as those who smoked marijuana in the 1960s are now at the vulnerable age.\u00a0 \u201cWe found out that people who smoked dope in the 1960s were not getting Alzheimer\u2019s.\u201d\u00a0 While his research is promising, it has unfortunately been brought to a halt.\u00a0 He recently said \u201cI am not funded to do marijuana research\u2026It costed me about $100,000 to do a whole experiment, $10,000 just to buy the molecule and every old rat is $150.
