Look at all of the sweet and vibrant colors. Unfortunately, Blue Sky is more of a looker than anything else. Well, perhaps a looker, smeller, and taster – if you know what I mean. This strain is a long lasting high, with both the body high and stimulating effects you’re looking for, though the head effects are much more pronounced. Not only is the high a nice combo feeling, but the taste and flavors are pleasant as well.

Appearance: Though Blue Sky’s name evokes images of an afternoon cloudless expanse, its colors more closely resemble those of a sunset’s multi-hued rainbow. The buds are darker greens hidden amongst patches of reddish and rust-colored pistils. Some harvests even yield darker blue tones as well. With the tichrome covering, Blue Sky is the first twinkles of stars after the sunset vanishes.

Consistency: If the sky were a liquid to be waded through, perhaps it would be light and airy, or perhaps, like Blue Sky’s nuggets, it would be dense and sticky. We’d say this strain is more like a southern, or midwestern sky in the summer – dense, gooey, and thick. Don’t be afraid of the stickiness, though. Blue Sky’s buds break open into fresh, flavorful goodness.

Scent: This wonderful, fresh and zesty scent is where Blue Sky’s name must come from (and maybe the color scheme, a bit). There are notes of blueberry and other sweet bits under the canopy of pot and earthy smells. But the aroma as a whole tends to float, lending to it a very airy, pleasing nature.

Taste: Someone just popped fresh blueberry muffins out of the oven. Not as heavy and laden with other tastes as a pie, and not quite as pure as simple blueberries on their own. Blue Sky’s flavors are like its scents – light and airy but sweet with a bit of spice and earth. Whatever kind of blueberry-filled pastry you compare it to, this strain is sure to awaken your senses and pull you deeper into that jar of yours.

Effect: You’ll likely notice the Sativa side of the buzz first. The sweeping, stimulating head buzz washes over you almost immediately, when you’d better be ready for a ride. This buzz lasts almost the duration of the high and helps precipitate some anxiety-relieving and perhaps mood-lifting effects. Blue Sky’s Indica profile slowly mixes in with the rest of the buzz, relieving some physical pain while at the same time providing relief from insomnia, nausea and anxiety.

Strain Background: Blue Sky is one of those “designer strains,” in that it was probably bred more for looks and taste and flavor profiles than it was for a ridiculous high or total body or mind high. The chemists behind this strain have achieved that, to the effect that Blue Sky looks, smells, and tastes wonderful, without being an out-of-this-world buzz.

Find the Best Deals near You Today on Weedmaps

Growth and Seed Info:

Pros: Great flavor with a beautiful appearance.

Cons: Those with an elevated tolerance could be slightly disappointed.

Original Breeder: unknown

Current Breeder: unknown

Known Phenotypes: grows tall and spindly with thin-ish leaves

Seed Bank of Choice: Seed Mine

Flowering Time: 60 + days

Growth Height: Inside 5 ft., Outside 10 ft.+

Expected Yield: Inside ¼ lb.+, Outside ½ lb.+

Garden Skill Level: Intermediate

Medical Uses: Great for treatment of anxiety, insomnia, and appetite stimulation.

Verdict: While this absurdly beautiful strain is lit up with translucent trichomes, Blue Sky’s relaxing punch to the cranium leaves a bit to be desired.

Family: Sativa, Haze, Blueberry, Hybrids

“The Scoop”: These colors are intense.
