{"id":5365,"date":"2016-01-13T05:32:44","date_gmt":"2016-01-13T05:32:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.420magazine.com\/?p=4131"},"modified":"2016-01-13T05:32:44","modified_gmt":"2016-01-13T05:32:44","slug":"mental-health-practitioner-says-marijuana-helps-symptoms-of-ptsd","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cannitrol.com\/blog\/mental-health-practitioner-says-marijuana-helps-symptoms-of-ptsd\/","title":{"rendered":"Mental Health Practitioner Says Marijuana Helps Symptoms Of PTSD"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"wp_fb_like_button\" style=\"margin:5px 0 5px 5px;float:right;height:100px;\"><script src=\"http:\/\/connect.facebook.net\/en_US\/all.js#xfbml=1\"><\/script><fb:like href=\"https:\/\/cannitrol.com\/blog\/mental-health-practitioner-says-marijuana-helps-symptoms-of-ptsd\/\" send=\"true\" layout=\"standard\" width=\"450\" show_faces=\"false\" font=\"arial\" action=\"like\" colorscheme=\"light\"><\/fb:like><\/div><p>A local Adult Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who treats PTSD has been pushing for years for the feds to essentially legalize medical marijuana.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s legal here in New Mexico but the federal laws still muddys things for patients.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI mean it turns people&#8217;s lives around,\u201d Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Bryan Krumm said.<\/p>\n<p>Patients battling Post Traumatic Stress Disorder have told Krumm it changes everything for them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn patients who have suicidal thoughts, it rapidly takes those thoughts down in most patients,\u201d Krumm said. \u201cIt helps with sleep, it helps to stop nightmares. It helps to just kind of turn off those racing thoughts in people&#8217;s brains\u2026helps them actually enjoy things.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s why Krumm has spent the last five years pushing for the federal government to change the drug classification for marijuana.<\/p>\n<p>Right now it&#8217;s considered &#8220;schedule one\u201d along with narcotics like heroin and cocaine.<\/p>\n<p>Krumm argues that because marijuana is widely accepted now for its medical benefits, it must be removed from the narcotics list.<\/p>\n<p>Now Krumm has learned that top federal health officials recently told the DEA whether marijuana should be reclassified.<br \/>\nIf the agencies agreed with Krumm&#8217;s petition, it would essentially mean legalizing medical marijuana nationwide on a federal level.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe don&#8217;t have to worry about medical cannabis patients losing their jobs because they&#8217;re using a legal prescription,\u201d Krumm said. \u201cWe don&#8217;t have to worry about the stigma associated with this.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Krumm says he sent his petition in back in 2009 and in a case before this; it took four years for the DEA to issue a response.<\/p>\n<p>He&#8217;s expecting the battle to continue for quite a while longer.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cannitrol.com\/blog\/\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/mental-health-practitioner-says-marijuana-helps-symptoms-of-ptsd.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-4132\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-4132\" src=\"https:\/\/cannitrol.com\/blog\/\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/mental-health-practitioner-says-marijuana-helps-symptoms-of-ptsd.jpg\" alt=\"ptsd-is-real\" width=\"737\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.420magazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/ptsd-is-real-300x163.jpg 300w, https:\/\/cannitrol.com\/blog\/\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/mental-health-practitioner-says-marijuana-helps-symptoms-of-ptsd.jpg 737w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 737px) 100vw, 737px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>News Moderator: Robert Celt <a href=\"http:\/\/www.420magazine.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">420 MAGAZINE \u00ae<\/a><br \/>\nFull Article: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kob.com\/article\/stories\/s4006201.shtml#.VoqRu_krJ1t\" target=\"_blank\">Mental Health Practitioner Says Marijuana Helps Symptoms Of PTSD<\/a><br \/>\nAuthor: Danielle Todesco<br \/>\nContact: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kob.com\/contact\" target=\"_blank\">KOB4<\/a><br \/>\nPhoto Credit: Craig F.
