Thereby providing the Trudeau administration time to cultivate new rules and regulations for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.marijuana.com\/blog\/news\/2014\/03\/canadas-marijuana-growers-must-destroy-their-weed-or-face-authority\/\" target=\"_blank\">Canada&#8217;s medical marijuana patients<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Sending up smoke signals to Canada&#8217;s many patients after the decision was first handed down, the attorney representing the medical marijuana patients, Kirk Tousaw, took to Twitter announcing the ruling in one word\u00a0&#8230;<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"und\">Win!<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 KirkTousaw (@KirkTousaw) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/KirkTousaw\/status\/702542708426977280\">February 24, 2016<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In addition to effectively striking down the current MMPR, Phelan also ordered the current injunction, which allows a very specific set of patients to grow marijuana, to remain in full effect.<\/p>\n<p>Now vindicated, \u00a0the case was initiated\u00a0by four patients from B.C. who had\u00a0contended that the current MMPR infringed on their <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Canadian_Charter_of_Rights_and_Freedoms\" target=\"_blank\">charter rights<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Informing Justin Trudeau\u2019s newly elected government that Canada&#8217;s ban on patients cultivating their own medical marijuana constituted an infringement on their rights, a federal judge in the Great White North has smacked down the loathsome regulations restricting the rights of patients to cultivate their own medicine.
