The vote in the Senate was 29 to 9; the vote in the Assembly was 56 to 13.<\/p>\n<p>Now, the measure sits on the desk of Governor Chris Christie, who has the option of signing it into law, allowing it to become law without his signature, or vetoing it.<\/p>\n<p>In response to this, a<a href=\"https:\/\/www.change.org\/p\/chris-christie-tell-chris-christie-to-sign-ab-457-to-add-ptsd-as-medical-cannabis-condition\" target=\"_blank\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?hl=en&#038;q=https:\/\/www.change.org\/p\/chris-christie-tell-chris-christie-to-sign-ab-457-to-add-ptsd-as-medical-cannabis-condition&#038;source=gmail&#038;ust=1471506539278000&#038;usg=AFQjCNE5KbDnU8mwGAzRS4ZcbjqJRZRObw\"> petition<\/a> has been started calling on Governor Christie to quickly sign the measure into law, which would allow those with PTSD to use a medicine that research has continued to show is beneficial.<\/p>\n<p>For example,<a href=\"http:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/science\/article\/pii\/S107474271300186X\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?hl=en&#038;q=http:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/science\/article\/pii\/S107474271300186X&#038;source=gmail&#038;ust=1471506539278000&#038;usg=AFQjCNE8TqwX0ePl8DcJpXYAJ4rInlb0Qw\"> a\u00a0government-funded study r<\/a>eleased in 2014 using human trials found that \u201cthe cannabinoid system may serve as a promising target for innovative intervention strategies (e.g. pharmacological enhancement of exposure-based therapy) in PTSD and other fear learning-related disorders.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pubmed\/26195653\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?hl=en&#038;q=http:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pubmed\/26195653&#038;source=gmail&#038;ust=1471506539278000&#038;usg=AFQjCNF4aV9kSFxzWKD4raEiyEBypTukIg\">A separate study<\/a> released last year found that; \u201cWhen inhaled or delivered orally or transdermally, cannabinoids (the psychoactive components of unrefined marijuana and various derivative products) activate endogenous cannabinoid receptors, modulating neurotransmitter release and producing a wide range of central nervous system effects, including increased pleasure and alteration of memory processes\u2026.
