Some of these doctors will write a prescription for marijuana on the first visit (only some).<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Getting an appointment with one of those doctors is more challenging. <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Your best bet is to ask the specialist who diagnosed your qualifying condition, or your general care practitioner.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">After you receive your prescription, you will need to return to the doctor every three months to have it renewed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">PHYSICIAN PRICING:<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Remember, medical insurance does not cover any doctor visit or medication associated with cannabis.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>You must pay out of pocket on the day of your visit.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Here\u2019s the range of prices I\u2019ve noticed around central NJ, feel free to share your experience in the comments.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Initial Doctor Consultation: $300-$350<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Subsequent Visits: $150-$200.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">[That means, if you have to see the doctor three times before the prescription, you\u2019ll pay at least $500 before you even get the prescription.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Remember, none of this is covered by insurance.]<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>STEP 3:<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>GO SEE THE MARIJUANA DOCTOR<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Be sure to bring your identification and all medical records relating to your qualifying condition.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Count on it being a fairly long visit.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>There will be a history and physical portion, and a lengthy online NJ state registration form that the physician must complete online.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">At the end of the visit, the doctor will give you two things:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">An individual patient reference number<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">An attending physician\u2019s statement\/Prescription<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">You need these documents in order to apply for your card.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>STEP 4:<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>GO HOME (OR SOMEWHERE WITH INTERNET ACCESS). COMPLETE APPLICATION.<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Don\u2019t get too excited, you can\u2019t pick up your weed just yet.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>But now that the state of NJ has determined that you are both:<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">medically screwed-up enough to desperately require cannabis, and<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">privileged enough to pay for it (because NJ\u2019s MMJ Program is prohibitively expensive)<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">You can finally apply for a medical marijuana card.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">YOU WILL NEED INTERNET ACCESS AND THE ABILITY TO UPLOAD DOCUMENTS IN ORDER TO COMPLETE THE APPLICATION.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">(Tip:<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>a high-quality photo from a good camera phone may substitute for a scanner).<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Follow these instructions from the NJ MMP website to complete the online application for your medical marijuana card. <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Scans or photos of the following documents must be submitted:<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Passport style photograph with a white background. (No glasses or hats.) Tip: A selfie in front of a white wall works fine.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Government issued photo ID<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Proof of New Jersey Residency (Utility bill and tax documents accepted)<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">*Documentation of Government Assistance (If applicable)<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">*Patients receiving government assistance qualify for a reduced registration fee for a medical marijuana card.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b> STEP 5:<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>PAYMENT FOR YOUR CARD<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">WHAT\u2019S ANOTHER $200.00?<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Once your application is completed, submitted, and approved, you will receive an email.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>The email gives you permission to PAY for your medical marijuana card.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>That\u2019s another $200.00.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>The email will contain a link that will take you to a site where you can pay using a credit card.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">*MMP Patients on public assistance can apply for a reduced payment of $20.00 for their marijuana card.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Proof documentation must be submitted with initial application.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>See application instructions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>STEP 6: RECEIVE YOUR CARD &#038; SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE DISPENSARY.<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">After your payment is processed, the state will send you your medical marijuana card in the mail.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Contact the dispensary you selected on your application to schedule an appointment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Green CulturED Cannabis College<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>STEP 7: BUY YOUR WEED.
