The pot tax is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.denverpost.com\/2015\/05\/28\/adams-county-sued-by-three-of-its-cities-over-targeted-pot-tax\/\">under legal challenge from Northglenn, Commerce City and Aurora<\/a>, which claim that the county has no right to collect within their borders tax above and beyond what the cities collect.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.denverpost.com\/2016\/12\/15\/adams-county-return-marijuana-taxes-collected-to-fund-scholarships\/\">Colorado Court of Appeals agreed with the cities in a December ruling<\/a> but Adams County continues to collect the tax as it fights the court\u2019s opinion all the way to the Colorado Supreme Court.
