{"id":7466,"date":"2017-06-09T23:51:49","date_gmt":"2017-06-09T23:51:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.denverpost.com\/?p=2678971"},"modified":"2017-06-09T23:51:49","modified_gmt":"2017-06-09T23:51:49","slug":"colorado-marijuana-sales-in-april-2017-top-125-million","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cannitrol.com\/blog\/colorado-marijuana-sales-in-april-2017-top-125-million\/","title":{"rendered":"Colorado marijuana sales in April 2017 top $125 million"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"wp_fb_like_button\" style=\"margin:5px 0 5px 5px;float:right;height:100px;\"><script src=\"http:\/\/connect.facebook.net\/en_US\/all.js#xfbml=1\"><\/script><fb:like href=\"https:\/\/cannitrol.com\/blog\/colorado-marijuana-sales-in-april-2017-top-125-million\/\" send=\"true\" layout=\"standard\" width=\"450\" show_faces=\"false\" font=\"arial\" action=\"like\" colorscheme=\"light\"><\/fb:like><\/div><div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"large-10 large-centered small-12 columns\">\n<div class=\"entry-meta-date\">Published: Jun 9, 2017, 5:01 pm \u2022 Updated: Jun 9, 2017, 6:37 pm<span class=\"single-comments-link\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thecannabist.co\/2017\/06\/09\/colorado-marijuana-sales-statistics-april-2017\/81250\/#disqus_thread\" class=\"commentsNameLink\" \/><\/span><\/div>\n<p class=\"byline\">By <span class=\"author\"><a class=\"url fn n\" href=\"http:\/\/www.thecannabist.co\/author\/awallace\/\" rel=\"author\">Alicia Wallace<\/a><\/span><em>, The Cannabist Staff<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Colorado\u2019s marijuana industry notched its 11th consecutive $100 million month in April.<\/p>\n<p>But the month\u00a0in which cannabis enthusiasts celebrate the \u201chigh holiday\u201d of 4\/20 fell short of setting a monthly high for the state.<\/p>\n<p>The state\u2019s pot shops raked in $125.2 million in medical and recreational marijuana sales of flower, edibles and concentrates during April, The Cannabist calculated by extrapolating Colorado marijuana taxes and fees data.<\/p>\n<p>Recreational marijuana sales totaled nearly $88.4 million while medical marijuana sales approached\u00a0$36.9 million, according to The Cannabist\u2019s calculations.<\/p>\n<p>Through April, the industry brought in close to $492 million, a nearly 27 percent increase from the $388 million in sales during the first four months of 2016, The Cannabist\u2019s archived data shows.<\/p>\n<p>The year-to-date 2017 sales have resulted in more than $76.3 million in taxes and fees revenue for the state, according to Colorado Department of Revenue data.<\/p>\n<p>Colorado\u2019s marijuana industry has been in growth mode since 2014, when the state became the first in America to legalize and regulated adult-use cannabis sales. The new industry has set and surpassed benchmarks along the way.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, a new monthly high was set four times. That was topped yet again in March 2017, which boasted <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thecannabist.co\/2017\/05\/10\/colorado-marijuana-sales-statistics-march-2017\/79215\/\">sales of $131.7 million<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Economists and analysts have told The Cannabist they expect Colorado\u2019s marijuana industry to top out at some point \u2014 especially likely after recreational marijuana programs in other states come online. But observers such as Andrew Livingston, director of economists for cannabis law firm Vicente Sederberg, said he wouldn\u2019t be surprised if Colorado\u2019s marijuana industry wasn\u2019t done setting monthly records.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe year-over-year rates of growth have continued at a steady pace, which to me indicates that we have not yet reached the point at which we are starting to cap out the market,\u201d he said following the release of the March 2017 numbers.<\/p>\n<p>The monthly sales numbers do potentially have some room for error.
