(Cannabist staff)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>MassRoots leased the 3,552-square-foot office in March 2015, regulatory filings show. In January 2016, it expanded into a neighboring suite, adding 1,508 square feet, according to the company\u2019s most recent annual filing, made March 31, 2017, with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.<\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday, MassRoots\u2019 Market Center offices were empty and dark. Two bundles of letters sat unopened on the floor and FedEx undelivered mail notices were stuck to the door.<\/p>\n<p>When reached by The Cannabist Wednesday, MassRoots CEO Isaac Dietrich blamed the company\u2019s leasing woes on a leadership change that occurred in mid-October. At that time, the company\u2019s board of directors <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thecannabist.co\/2017\/10\/19\/massroots-cannaregs-acquisition-nixed-isaac-dietrich-scott-kveton-ceo-switch\/90371\/\">ousted founder and CEO Dietrich<\/a>, replacing him with\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.thecannabist.co\/2017\/11\/16\/massroots-investor-conference-call\/92325\/\">Scott Kveton<\/a>, founder of compliance software firm Odava, which MassRoots acquired this summer.<\/p>\n<p>Dietrich <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thecannabist.co\/2017\/12\/14\/massroots-marijuana-tech-dietrich-ceo\/94603\/\">reclaimed his position<\/a> as CEO last week.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOver the past two months, Scott Kveton has been unable to raise funds to pay for the lease that I was able to fund during our tenures,\u201d Dietrich said. \u201cWe\u2019re very excited for the future of MassRoots and our expansion into blockchain technology.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As for the September to mid-October period during which he was still at the helm, Dietrich said MassRoots officials at that time were trying to renegotiate the terms of the lease with the property owner.<\/p>\n<p>MassRoots does have funds available to pay the amount owed, Dietrich said, adding that if a payment is not made, it will be a \u201cstrategic business decision\u201d to lower expenses.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve been back in charge for four days and MassRoots has been able to raise $500,000 during that time period,\u201d Dietrich said. \u201cAnd I\u2019m just getting started.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Queries to Kveton were not immediately returned Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cRight of Possession Notice\u201d caps a turbulent fall for the publicly traded MassRoots (OTC: MSRT, 29.74 cents).<\/p>\n<p>Amid Dietrich\u2019s departure in mid-October, a deal was nixed for MassRoots <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thecannabist.co\/2017\/08\/23\/massroots-buy-cannaregs\/86625\/\">to acquire Denver-based CannaRegs, which provides a database of cannabis policies and regulations.<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In mid-November, MassRoots <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thecannabist.co\/2017\/11\/14\/massroots-q3-sec-filing\/92391\/\">released its third-quarter financials<\/a> revealing a quarterly net loss of $7.5 million and revenue hovering around $11,500. Company officials, in the respective SEC filing, disclosed a need to raise at least $2.5 million during the fourth quarter to be able to continue to fund operations.<\/p>\n<p>As November ended, MassRoots and its former CEO traded shots. First,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.thecannabist.co\/2017\/11\/20\/massroots-sues-isaac-dietrich\/92742\/\">the company sued Dietrich<\/a> for allegedly violating the terms of his separation agreement, including claims he paid himself more than $250,000 without authorization. Dietrich fired back by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thecannabist.co\/2017\/11\/20\/massroots-isaac-dietrich-proxy-battle\/92548\/\">making a preliminary proxy filing<\/a>, indicating plans to appoint a new board of directors and reinstall himself as CEO.<\/p>\n<p>On Dec. 14, SEC filings disclosed that\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.thecannabist.co\/2017\/12\/14\/massroots-marijuana-tech-dietrich-ceo\/94603\/\">Dietrich was reappointed CEO<\/a>, his three director nominees were named to the board, and Kveton and the existing board members had resigned.<\/p>\n<div class=\"entry-meta-author\">\n<div class=\"authorimage\"><a class=\"url fn n\" href=\"http:\/\/www.thecannabist.co\/author\/awallace\/\" rel=\"author\"><img src=\"https:\/\/cannitrol.com\/blog\/\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/massroots-facing-eviction-from-its-denver-headquarters-1.jpg\" class=\"authormug\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p class=\"author-desc\">Alicia Wallace joined The Cannabist in July 2016, covering national marijuana policy and business.
