The survey can be found at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.codot.gov\/safety\/alcohol-and-impaired-driving\/druggeddriving\">ColoradoCannabisConvo.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe want to find out from marijuana users why they drive high when it\u2019s so dangerous,\u201d said Sam Cole,\u00a0a transportation department spokesman.<\/p>\n<p>In 2016, there were 77 traffic fatalities involving drivers with active THC in their blood, according to CDOT statistics. In Colorado, a driver is presumed impaired when when they have five nanograms or more of Delta 9-THC in their blood, but Colorado police do not use roadside <a href=\"https:\/\/www.denverpost.com\/2017\/08\/25\/marijuana-impairment-testing\/\">devices to detect marijuana.<\/a>\u00a0Arrests are based on observed impairment.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"related right\" \/>\n<p>The transportation department hopes the survey helps officials spot trends and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thecannabist.co\/2017\/08\/25\/marijuana-impaired-driving-attitudes\/86813\/\">attitudes toward drugged driving in Colorado<\/a>, which would help them form campaigns to target behavior, Cole said.<\/p>\n<p>The transportation department has hired a third-party research firm to collect and analyze the data. They want responses from across Colorado and among all age, gender and race categories.
