{"id":8243,"date":"2018-05-02T01:19:08","date_gmt":"2018-05-02T01:19:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.420magazine.com\/?p=17407"},"modified":"2018-05-02T01:19:08","modified_gmt":"2018-05-02T01:19:08","slug":"mike-tyson-company-to-partner-with-west-virginia-cannabis-farm","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cannitrol.com\/blog\/mike-tyson-company-to-partner-with-west-virginia-cannabis-farm\/","title":{"rendered":"Mike Tyson Company To Partner With West Virginia Cannabis Farm"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"wp_fb_like_button\" style=\"margin:5px 0 5px 5px;float:right;height:100px;\"><script src=\"http:\/\/connect.facebook.net\/en_US\/all.js#xfbml=1\"><\/script><fb:like href=\"https:\/\/cannitrol.com\/blog\/mike-tyson-company-to-partner-with-west-virginia-cannabis-farm\/\" send=\"true\" layout=\"standard\" width=\"450\" show_faces=\"false\" font=\"arial\" action=\"like\" colorscheme=\"light\"><\/fb:like><\/div><p>A company owned by former world heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson plans to partner with a West Virginia greenhouse to grow and extract cannabis for use in its products.<\/p>\n<p>Tyson Holistic is teaming up with Flemington-based Almost Heaven Agriculture and plans to put a hemp extraction facility at its existing greenhouse, officials said Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Kevin Bell, a partner and chief operations officer for Tyson Holistic, said officials with the company had been in West Virginia for about a week looking for opportunities to invest in the hemp industry here.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve looked at lots of reclamation land and we are going to do that, it\u2019s just that they only give licenses twice a year, so we found an existing license holder to do a joint venture,\u201d Bell said.<\/p>\n<p>Bell said medicinal hemp offers more opportunities and a higher price than industrial hemp. Medicinal hemp sells for about $50 to $100 per pound compared to the $5 to $10 a pound for industrial hemp, he said.<\/p>\n<p>Bell said the state has currently few licenses to grow hemp and that\u2019s because there\u2019s no extraction facility.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo our first thing is to build an extraction facility to grow the hemp into money,\u201d Bell said.<\/p>\n<p>Tyson Holistic, which is in its fourth month of existence, produces a hemp-infused water and a hemp infused pain-relief gel, Bell said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re hoping to inject resources and capital and partner with West Virginia to change the world,\u201d Bell said.<\/p>\n<p>Bell said on Monday the company plans to invest \u201cwhatever it takes,\u201d in the hemp industry in West Virginia. He didn\u2019t have a dollar amount for the initial investment with Almost Heaven.<\/p>\n<p>Former lawmakers Mike Manypenny and Bill Flanagan own Almost Heaven Agriculture in Flemington, Taylor County.<\/p>\n<p>Flanagan said the company already has a one-acre greenhouse and is planning to add more.<\/p>\n<p>Flanagan said the plans will mean jobs for the area and beyond when it expands.<\/p>\n<p>West Virginia isn\u2019t the only place Tyson\u2019s company plans to build.
