{"id":9080,"date":"2020-02-26T18:18:01","date_gmt":"2020-02-26T18:18:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.denverpost.com\/?p=3971383"},"modified":"2020-02-26T18:18:01","modified_gmt":"2020-02-26T18:18:01","slug":"aurora-couple-first-to-go-to-prison-in-connection-with-large-scale-colorado-black-market-marijuana-ring","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cannitrol.com\/blog\/aurora-couple-first-to-go-to-prison-in-connection-with-large-scale-colorado-black-market-marijuana-ring\/","title":{"rendered":"Aurora couple first to go to prison in connection with large-scale Colorado black market marijuana ring"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"wp_fb_like_button\" style=\"margin:5px 0 5px 5px;float:right;height:100px;\"><script src=\"http:\/\/connect.facebook.net\/en_US\/all.js#xfbml=1\"><\/script><fb:like href=\"https:\/\/cannitrol.com\/blog\/aurora-couple-first-to-go-to-prison-in-connection-with-large-scale-colorado-black-market-marijuana-ring\/\" send=\"true\" layout=\"standard\" width=\"450\" show_faces=\"false\" font=\"arial\" action=\"like\" colorscheme=\"light\"><\/fb:like><\/div><div class=\"media_block\"><\/div>\n<div><img src=\"https:\/\/cannitrol.com\/blog\/\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/aurora-couple-first-to-go-to-prison-in-connection-with-large-scale-colorado-black-market-marijuana-ring.jpg\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\" \/><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.denverpost.com\/2020\/02\/26\/aurora-couple-black-market-marijuana-ring-sentencing\/?utm_source=feedburner&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Feed%3A+dp-news-marijuana+%28Denver+Post%3A+News%3A+Marijuana%29&amp;utm_content=Google+UK#comments-anchor\"><span class=\"spot-im-replies-count\" data-post-id=\"3971383\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>An Aurora couple was sentenced in federal court this week for their role in a large-scale black market marijuana grow operation, the first people to be sent to prison as part of a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.denverpost.com\/2019\/05\/24\/illegal-marijuana-operation-denver-colorado\/\">massive Denver-area drug take-down<\/a> announced last year.<\/p>\n<p>Huanyu Yan, 54, and You Lan Xiang, 50, received 36 months and 30 months in federal prison, respectively, for growing nearly 900 marijuana plants in their basement with plans to distribute the drug, the U.S. Attorney\u2019s Office said in a news release.<\/p>\n<p>The two were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.denverpost.com\/2019\/12\/06\/aurora-couple-convicted-marijuana-black-market\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">found guilty in December of marijuana cultivation<\/a> following a four-day trial.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese defendants turned their family home into a full-scale drug manufacturing facility,\u201d U.S. Attorney Jason Dunn said in a statement.\u00a0 \u201cAs the first to be sentenced in this operation, I hope it sends a message to anyone involved in black-market marijuana production that we will catch them, prosecute them and send them to prison.\u201d<\/p>\n<aside class=\"related right\" \/>\n<p>On Oct. 10, 2018, local and federal law enforcement <a href=\"https:\/\/www.denverpost.com\/2018\/10\/10\/marijuana-raids-aurora\/\">raided the house<\/a> on East Doane Drive, finding 878 marijuana plants and 9.72 pounds of finished marijuana.<\/p>\n<p>The drug bust was part of a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.denverpost.com\/2019\/05\/22\/marijuana-raid-federal-colorado\/\">coordinated effort<\/a> over two years that targeted a drug trafficking organization that set up shop in hundreds of homes around the Denver area.
