Recreational sales accounted for about $140.5 million, while medical sales accounted for nearly $34.7 million, the agency reported.<\/p>\n<p>While the total is down about 12% compared to the month prior, it was enough to help Colorado hit yet another financial milestone in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.denverpost.com\/2020\/12\/09\/colorado-marijuana-sales-october-annual-record\/\">an already banner year for cannabis<\/a>. From January through November 2020, consumers purchased slightly more than $2 billion, the Department of Revenue reported. The previous year, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.denverpost.com\/2020\/02\/18\/colorado-marijuana-sales-2019\/\">dispensaries reached $1.75 billion in annual sales<\/a>, a record at the time.<\/p>\n<p>The state collected nearly $32.4 million in taxes and fees in November.<\/p>\n<p>Though Colorado\u2019s monthly sales cooled off in November, the national conversation around marijuana heated up.<\/p>\n<p>Voters in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2020\/11\/04\/1-in-3-americans-lives-where-recreational-marijuana-legal-434004\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">South Dakota, Mississippi, New Jersey, Arizona and Montana<\/a> legalized the plant for recreational use, medical use or both during the election. Analysts don\u2019t expect that to impact Colorado\u2019s canna-tourism industry or sales in the coming year, though they are bullish about the industry\u2019s momentum.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"related right\" \/>\n<p>Roy Bingham, co-founder and executive chairman of Boulder data firm BDSA, previously told The Denver Post that the national market grew more than 45% to $18 billion in 2020, outpacing forecasts by about $2 billion, an increase attributable to \u201cthe COVID effect.\u201d Colorado experienced similar trends, smashing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.denverpost.com\/2020\/09\/15\/marijuana-sales-record-200-million\/\">sales record<\/a> after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.denverpost.com\/2020\/12\/09\/colorado-marijuana-sales-october-annual-record\/\">record<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.denverpost.com\/2020\/07\/13\/colorado-cannabis-marijuana-sales-record-high\/\">month<\/a> after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.denverpost.com\/2020\/08\/12\/june-2020-colorado-marijuana-sales-record\/\">month<\/a>, during the spring and summer.<\/p>\n<p>Only time will tell if growth will continue in the New Year, but several new programs, such as <a href=\"https:\/\/gazette.com\/colorado_politics\/marijuana-delivery-to-begin-in-aurora-in-2021-as-city-council-passes-final-vote\/article_7e853e0c-b7ad-56f2-9e21-79c09dbd630c.html\">marijuana delivery<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.denverpost.com\/2020\/12\/07\/denver-marijuana-delivery-hospitality-social-equity\/\">cannabis-friendly \u201cbars,\u201d<\/a> seem promising.
