Now that we have a union, I feel even more confident that these jobs are secure and that they can become a great career that help us build a better life for us and our families.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Justin Eisenach, Union Harvest\u2019s managing director and founder, said he hopes the move will serve as an example to others in the industry.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s important Colorado continues to be a leader in the cannabis industry, and we can do that by working with UFCW,\u201d Eisenach said.<\/p>\n<p>The effort to unionize cannabis workers has been growing steadily across in the country in recent years, and the pandemic only <a href=\"https:\/\/mjbizdaily.com\/marijuana-union-organizing-surging-amid-pandemic-uptick-in-labor-peace-requirements\/\">hastened that pace<\/a>. Much of it has been led by UFCW, which Rolling Stone magazine <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/culture\/culture-features\/cannabis-weed-union-jobs-ufcw-846505\/\">dubbed<\/a> \u201cAmerica\u2019s most powerful cannabis union.\u201d<\/p>\n<aside class=\"related right\" \/>\n<p>But even though Colorado became the first state to legalize marijuana, workers at pot shops across the state struggled for years to unionize.<\/p>\n<p>In 2016, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westword.com\/news\/unionizing-efforts-in-colorados-cannabis-industry-got-nipped-in-the-bud-9575515\">efforts by a Pueblo worker<\/a> to organize a union led to his ousting.
