Why <a href=\"https:\/\/cannabis.net\/blog\/news\/florida-governor-desantis-wants-cannabis-companies-to-pay-more-to-play-in-florida-and-that-is-a\">DeSantis is another cog<\/a> in the system\u2026<\/p>\n<p>This 2024, Americans will be clenching their anuses as they decide which master will be dictating their collective shitfuckery for the next 4 years.<\/p>\n<p>The obvious two current front-runners are <a href=\"https:\/\/cannabis.net\/blog\/opinion\/do-cannabis-legalization-efforts-reveal-that-joe-biden-is-a-pawn-for-big-pharma\">Joe Biden<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/cannabis.net\/blog\/opinion\/donald-the-delusional-and-his-views-on-genetically-engineered-cannabis-causing-violence-in-amer\">Donald Trump<\/a> \u2013 both options I have covered extensively as mere puppets to the true masters, or as Carlin would call them, \u201cThe owners in their special club\u201d (<em>and you ain\u2019t in it!<\/em>)<\/p>\n<p>Today I\u2019m not talking about Old man Dementia and Pussy L\u2019Grabs, I\u2019m talking the young buck Ronny DeSantis who \u2013 during the pandemic \u2013 seemed to be one of the few politicians that went against the grain.<\/p>\n<p>Not only is he much younger than the relics that run against him, he also has a very strong ability to debate, make a point, and overall impose that \u201che is ready!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Some people hate him \u2013 Donald Trump is one of those people, who have been working on trying to discredit him from being the Republican nominee. However, as an anarchist in my heart of hearts \u2013 I hate all politicians equally.<\/p>\n<p>My only real interest in the political arena is looking at which president or political leader will give people more freedom, to undo the policy snares upheld by \u201celected representatives\u201d for decades. I don\u2019t care if they are \u201cconservative\u201d or \u201cliberal\u201d, all they need to show me is;<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\n<p>Not owned by anyone (zero candidates)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Advocates more freedom, not less<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Obviously, with a name like Reginald Reefer \u2013 we need to look at where each candidate stands on weed. We know Biden says good things, but continues to play the old game of bureaucratic shuffle-cups, where the responsibility moves from one department to another, to another \u2013 and only when an important speech or vote comes up, they enact a policy change that affects zero people but seems like a grand gesture.<\/p>\n<p>Trump was mostly \u201chands off\u201d on a State\u2019s level \u2013 however, federally his, \u201cI want to cut budgets\u201d, undid protections for the legal cannabis market. This put back the legalization of cannabis for years, because now bureaucrats will have to \u201cvote on voting about a vote to vote on cannabis reform.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Now when asked, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marijuanamoment.net\/ron-desantis-says-he-would-not-decriminalize-marijuana-if-elected-president\/\">Marijuana Moment reports<\/a> that when DeSantis was asked about cannabis decriminalization on a federal level, he said he probably wouldn\u2019t and continued to echo the same drug war excuses;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u201cI think that we have we have too many people using drugs in this country right now. I think it hurts our workforce readiness. I think it hurts people\u2019s ability to prosper in life,\u201d he said, adding that people he knew in high school who used marijuana \u201csuffered.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll their activities, all their grades and everything like that\u2014so particularly for the youth, I just think we have to be united,\u201d the candidate said. He also plugged a Florida program <strong>overseen by his wife<\/strong> that involves sending athletes to schools to warn students about \u201cthe stakes of using some of these drugs nowadays, and this is not something you want to mess around with.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Oh no, \u201cOverseen by his wife\u201d is eerily reminiscent of Nancy Raegan\u2019s bullshit D.A.R.E program. But as you can see, \u201cwe have too many people using drugs in the country right now\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Does that mean when fewer younger people are using drugs, he\u2019d be open to it? No, of course not! It means, that there is some magical threshold of users that equates \u201ctoo much\u201d however, alcohol is not even considered as a \u201cdrug\u201d within the rhetoric of DeSantis. We won\u2019t legalize cannabis \u2013 which the youth can get irrespective of whether it\u2019s legal or not \u2013 and rather, continue to utilize a system that literally turns people into slaves for \u201cbreaking the law\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>He \u201cbelieves\u201d it hurts workforce readiness and people\u2019s ability to prosper\u2026well, that is irrelevant. People\u2019s right to choose what they can and cannot put into their own bodies is a sacred right of liberty \u2013 the same rights that the United States bled for in several wars to preserve.<\/p>\n<p>But then you have politicians like DeSantis that pisses on those rights under the guise of \u201cprotecting others\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Well first of all, it\u2019s not the responsibility of the government to decide what a free human can eat or drink. That, if the human is actually free \u2013 is a responsibility that should solely lie within the decision making of the individual.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo particularly for the youth\u2026I\u2019m keeping it illegal!\u201d Well, it\u2019s not legal for the youth\u2026just like alcohol isn\u2019t legal for the youth. Alcohol is legal, but the legality of it isn\u2019t saying, \u201cHey kids, drink this!\u201d it\u2019s saying, \u201cThis is an adult beverage not meant for children!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The fact that some kids drink alcohol does not justify making it illegal for the millions of adults that do drink alcohol. Similarly, because \u201csome kids\u201d could smoke weed \u2013 does not mean that we must make it illegal for everyone.<\/p>\n<p>Some people can\u2019t drive worth shit \u2013 does that mean we make cars illegal for everyone? Some people murder people using guns \u2013 do we ban all guns?<\/p>\n<p>This argument is as old as prohibition itself, and it\u2019s a weak argument.<\/p>\n<p>My guess is that DeSantis has donors who make money or maintain some sort of power by sustaining cannabis prohibition. If you have been paying attention to the \u201cBlackRock\u201d hashtag that was circulating on Twitter the other day, you\u2019ll realize that \u201cThose who control the wallet of the president, controls the president\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to OpenSecrets, 76% of his funding comes from PAC Contributions and Large Individual Contributions.
