DEA Not Rescheduling Pot — Rejects Governors’ Petition.

The US government will announce Thursday that it will allow more research into marijuana but rejected requests to loosen the classification of the substance as a dangerous drug with no medical use, sources with direct knowledge of the matter said.

The decision, to be announced by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), is an answer to a 2011 petition filed by two former state governors who asked federal agencies to reclassify marijuana as a drug with accepted medical uses,…

John Entwistle says: We are deeply disappointed and can only hope for executive action. On the other hand, President Nixon would be very pleased with this decision. It takes all types I guess.

I know it’s hard to accept but this whole scheduling conundrum was Nixon’s plan to keep pot illegal and it has held up through his administration, President Ford, President Carter, President Reagan, President Bush 41 & 43., President Clinton and President Obama. What vision!

On this occasion it seems fitting to revive and celebrate the wonderful logic behind his decision. (Warning: this would be politically incorrect even to quote here it was so racist.)
