7 deaths tied to illegal grow operation shake rural Riverside County community
Aguanga in Riverside County was reeling Tuesday, Sept. 8, following the shooting deaths of seven people at what authorities said was one of many illegal marijuana growing operations in the rural area where residents say they seem to thrive despite numerous raids by sheriff’s deputies.
The seven victims, none yet identified, were found in a residence in the 45000 block of Highway 371 shortly after 12:30 a.m. Monday after Riverside County sheriff’s deputies were called about a shooting in the area.
They found a woman with severe gunshot wounds, then discovered six victims at the same home with gunshot wounds; all six died at the location. The woman died later at a hospital.
