Calls For Marijuana Legalization Coming From California Medical Association
Members of the California Medical Association had their annual meeting recently. The meeting produced a consensus on legalizing marijuana. They become the first major medical association to call for legalization of marijuana. Doctors feel the strain of an uncomfortable legal situation in California and other states with medical marijuana. They want to prescribe medication that helps their patients but they are weary of any federal issues that may arise. Dr. Donald Lyman wrote the official position of the association. He also said that if legalized, more research can be done on marijuana and its true medical value can be assessed.

NJ May Be Close to First Marijuana Dispensary
Six nonprofit groups have licenses to open medical marijuana dispensaries in New Jersey. However, acquiring the elusive permit is not necessarily a golden Wonka ticket. Zoning approval is the next step, which can be a lengthy process in itself. The Compassionate Science Alternative Treatment Center has a hearing this week regarding the zoning situation. If approved, they are hope to open in early 2012, and make themselves first operational marijuana dispensary. New Jersey has seen a long road in building their medical marijuana program and it appears the program will officially be underway within months, pending the outcome of the zoning hearing.
